We know that our height depend of several factors. While some of the factors are natural, others involve our lifestyle and hence can be controlled. If proper care is taken of these factors, a person can successfully increase his/her height before reaching puberty and sometimes even after that. Let us discuss what are the factors that affect our height growth.
Genetics is the primary factor that influences the height of the person. A person who has tall parents is likely to get tall naturally. Roughly 60 to 80 percent of the height of a person is dependent upon the genes. A person whose parents are short, will have to work hard on the other factors to gain an attractive height.
Your height also depends on the fact whether you are a girl. Girls stop growing at the age of 18 to 19 but boys may grow up to the age of 22. Moreover it is seen that boys are usually taller than girls.
Environment & Surroundings
The surrounding environment of the person also affects the height of a person. A person who has a better living environment along with a good social, cultural and tidy environment is likely to have a better height than a person who lacks it. Climate also affects the height of the person, though it cannot be controlled by human beings.
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is responsible for the growth of a person. HGH is secreted in pituitary gland situated in the brain. If there is a lack of HGH in the body, it will badly affect the height of the person. To a certain extent we can condition our body to release more HGH. Foods containing Fats should be avoided as the hinder the secretion of HGH.
Nutrition help the body in growing tall naturally. Different nutrients help the body in different ways. A balanced diet containing all the essential nutrients should be preferred over junk food which has little or no nutrients. A balanced diet should be rich in Proteins, Calcium, Vitamins and Minerals, Phosphorous and Magnesium should be preferred. Calcium helps in the development and strengthening of bones. Proteins help in the growth of the body. Fats should be avoided as much as possible as they affect the secretion of HGH. Dairy Products and meat should be given preference over other foods.
Physical activities of the person play a vital role in the growth. Physical activities stimulate the gain of HGH which ultimately is responsible for the growth of a person. Sports and exercises help in a better blood circulation, hence supplying more HGH to every part of the body. Moreover physical activities, exercising and playing sports help in the stretching of the body. This gives a better structure to the spine and the legs of the body, which helps in the growth of the body.
Sleep is a very important factor if a person wants to increase the height. Proper sleep is important as it gets rid of tiredness of the body. More HGH is secreted during the sleep compared to when a person is awake. When a person is asleep, the body is more relaxed and hence benefits the body more. At least 8 hours of sleep is necessary.
