Milk is a good source of Calcium and Vitamin D which is essential for the development of bones in children. Your child needs three servings of milk or milk product like yogurt or cheese in order to meet her daily requirement of vitamin D and calcium. Also if your kid is under the age of 2 , you should make sure that she is having whole milk as the fat in whole milk will aid in brain development. Your kid needs calories in order to gain height. While all types of foods provide calories, most of the calories in whole grains come from carbohydrates which provide the main source of energy to growing kids. When you choose whole grains, you also ensure that your kid is getting their daily dose of Zinc, magnesium and Vitamin B, all of which are essential to the growth of your child.
Next time while you are shopping for Breakfast cereal, bread or pasta, make sure that they are made from whole grain. Also you could try products which are made from different types of grains like Barley, Wheat and Quinoa.
Getting enough protein in a diet is essential for normal growth of a kid. Eggs are packed with Protein. You could include an omlette in their breakfast or make them have boiled eggs. Including protein in the diet will also keep them energetic during the day.
Apart from being a good source of protein. Meat is also a good source of iron, the lack of which can hinder the growth and development of your child. If your child is unwilling to eat it at first, you could try cooking it in different ways to find out what suits the kid’s palette. Also make sure that you continue to serve them meat even if they refuse to eat it as some kids develop a taste for certain foods slowly.
Oatmeal has been called a super food due to its high protein and low fat content. This is a healthy food for not just kids but just about anyone. Make sure your kids are having oatmeal on a regular basis.
