How to Get a Longer Torso Through Simple Lifestyle Measures
Studies have shown that taller people are at a more advantageous position in life. We are psychologically molded to trust taller people with more responsibility. Nature has designed us in such a way that we are engineered to see a good height as a sign of attractiveness in our potential mate as well. You will be surprised to see how much discrimination actually takes place simply because of a person’s lack of height. It is a very silent and quite invisible phenomenon because more often than not, this is just a thing that comes to people naturally. It is not even considered a discrimination really because people who do it, don’t really discriminate consciously. But this makes it incredibly difficult for men and women of a shorter stature, who are the receiving end of this.
It is seen that 9 out of 10 people who are below the average height for their particular sex and race, have faced some
form of discrimination, which ranges from an active bullying by peers to a very subtle but relevant discrimination in the field of work or love. A lot of people do not even realize that they are facing a bias, based on their physical appearance because it is something very deeply ingrained in our minds hence it does not even register unless something really big happens. If you are dissatisfied with your height, it is the right time to start working on it.
Gaining height at an older age is possible if you commit to it. - Breathe in as much air as you can through your nostrils. Open your mouth to form a narrow tube with your lips and breathe out through it. Remember that you should not breathe in through your mouth.

There is no alternative to exercises, when it comes to gaining height. If you can incorporate a steady routine of exercises, you will be surprised how fast you can grow taller. If you have never worked out, you can start easy by exercising thrice a week. Gradually increase the frequency to at least once a day, if not twice. A proper workout once a day as well some light stretching exercises in the evening can do wonders. These are the following exercises that you need to start doing for a longer torso.
Stand straight with your feet close together, forming a V shape. Slowly raise your arms above your head, stretch your spine as much as you can and hold the position for 15 to 20 seconds and slowly release.
Lie down with your hands above your head. Stretch your entire body, from arms to toes till you feel a light strain. Hold the position. Take five slow and deep breaths and release.
Stand straight and put your hands on your waist. Twist the upper part of your body to one side, keeping the lower part unmoved. Hold for a few seconds and come back to the original position. Now do the same process by twisting your body to the other side. Repeat these, at least ten times per side.
Lie down straight on your back and stretch your arms out on both sides. Slowly twist the upper part of your body to one side and hold the position. Take five deep breaths and release. Do the same on the other side as well.
Bending the back
Stand straight with your hands on your hip. Keeping your hands, unmoved, arch your back about thirty degrees. Hold for 10 seconds and then slowly come back to the original position. You will find that this causes a strain on your torso, which in turn, helps your upper body get taller.
This is not an exercise for a beginner but it requires some practice and added agility to master. There are two ways to do this. Let us start with the easier one, which you should master first, before moving to the more difficult one. Lie down on your back with your arms flat on the floor by your head. Your fingers should point downwards and your legs should be folded so that your feet are near your hip. Slowly try to raise your back, putting the weight on your hands and legs, till you are supported on your limbs and your back in completely arched. Hold for a couple of seconds and very slowly return to the original position.
You can also do this exercise from a standing position. You have to stand straight and put your hands straight above your head. Gradually bend backwards till you reach the floor with your hands. As you rest your hands on the floor, your body forms an arch, supported on your limbs.
This is an excellent exercise for increasing the length of your torso but it must be remembered that you must have someone to help you in case you lose balance or to support you whenever you need, during this exercise.
Simple stretching is not enough if you want to increase the length of your upper body considerably. Inversion is a very powerful exercise for people who are aspiring to gain height. It requires you to hang upside down by your ankles so that gravity aids in your stretching exercises. You can also do your upper body exercises, be it using weights or without, in this position. It is an excellent exercise for building upper body strength as well as for increasing the length of your torso. Although inversion is not a mainstream exercise yet, it is gaining rapid popularity as high quality gravity boots and inversion tables are coming to the market with advanced safety and better features. In this process, you hang downwards with the help of your ankles, using safety straps. While you are hanging down, try to pull up your body like you do crunches. You can also try to touch your feet with your hands like a regular sit up. This is the fastest way to gain height naturally.
Rest and posture
Rest is very important as your body needs adequate sleep and rest otherwise, to lock the progress that you have achieved with your workout. It is important that you maintain a good posture while resting. Do not hunch your back when you sit, stand or lie down.
You can gain a couple of inches without making your body go through any harmful process, only through sheer dedication and perseverance. If you put your mind, soul and body into it, you will be surprised by your own success.
